    • assorted: emotionally attached to someone impossible, a celebrity, older or authority figure. i lived in the pleasure of knowing that it would never be possible, liked the certainty of not receiving and not letting anyone know. secrecy, maybe. unprompted and illogical feelings.

    • the darkroom with its yellowy lighting, smelling of chemicals i don’t know the names to. the absence of light is comforting. glows of the enlargers and the awareness of the quiet as people work, swishing paper in tubs. tongs with rubber tips and a timer that clicks.
    • the alley that houses the backs of the buildings. a parking lot haphazardly tucked into the midst of them. brick edifices, a pink wall. there’s a daycare fenced in with metal. a small church gazebo with a cross sits next to two giant dumpsters. unused stairs.
    • the parking structure, but mainly the roof. the emptiness, semi-freedom. i can look up at the sky, down on the city. taking rhe stairs a level at a time. each floor has a different colored column. the inherent loneliness of cars and driving. headlights shining.
